Baby Naming

Why do people celebrate Baby Naming ?

"You give the baby a name. Done. Right ?"

In ancient times, infant mortality rate makes parents fearful their child may not see through the rest of winter, or war, or pandemic, or famine.

For the Chinese people, they used to give pseudonyms and nicknames for their children, in the hope that the demons won't know their real names, to call them away.

Baby naming, is synonymous with hopefulness - hoping that the child has finally reached a stage where his or her viability of life is no longer a question.

Nowadays, Baby Naming ceremonies infuse the occasion with a sense of community, a village that would take care of the child, and the child learning the meaning of his / her name, to pursue life with the knowledge of why he / she is called "___________" .
