Q1 : Are you a JP (Justice of Peace) or an official ROM Solemniser ?
No, and if it is your wish to have a wedding be official at the same time, a JP or Solemniser can conduct a joint session with me.
Q2 : You seem to only conduct non-religious, humanist rituals. Is that true ?
Majority of people who come to me, want humanist or secular rituals. Many of the attendees are religious, and the service(s) are not designed to make them feel uncomfortable.
Q3 : Why do we need you, when we could just "hire" a JP or Solemniser to conduct a wedding ?
JPs are Solemnisers are bound by a fairly strict procedure they need to do in officiating marriages (different from weddings). I tend to bring to the wedding a set of feelings that the couple wants to exude onto the occasion.
Q4 : If it is a "make believe" ritual, why do we need you ?
Any one can be celebrant, and I will be the first one to say this. But not everyone can be a good celebrant, be official, be fun, be in the moment, be summoning life's experiences, be giving a special speech, and have everyone remember the occasion with fond memories. My testimonials show that I had.
Q5 : Why is the FAQ so "Wedding" centric ?
Well, it is most likely why you surfed here. I do conduct other service(s) , and all service(s) are unique and special.
Q6 : How much do you charge ?
I'd like to say 'not enough to make people feel good about the celebration'. For example, wedding rituals are $368 (within 90 mins) , including two prep/planning meetings. Other expenses (transport, props, consumables) will be on cost-transfer.
Q7 : Any Loyalty Programme affiliation ?
Members of Humanist Society Singapore get 15% off quoted rates.
